A tent storage with the dimensions are L = 22 m, W = 12.5 m and H = 7.6 m was built in the city of Spital am Semmering in Styria, Austria for the construction site equipment of the phase “tunnel equipment”. Schembera Consulting ZT e.U. prepared the necessary documentation for the approval of this building to the relevant authorities, including the communication with the authorities. These included the following documents: applications, requests, a building description, relevant forms, a confirmation of compliance with building regulations and the necessary drawings. We also handled the process of securing all official documents from the local authorities necessary for preparing and obtaining the building permit.

This reduces the distribution of vibrations to the buildings.

On the big area of the former northern railway station in Vienna (Nordbahnhof) a new district of residential, working areas and schools is currently under development. The area is app. 85 ha big and is therefore one of the largest and most important inner-city development zones in Vienna. It is expected that until 2030 20,000 people will be living in this new district and another 20,000 people will have a working place there.

To ensure a contemporary and environmentally friendly mobility concept for the people, the combination of public transport, walking, cycling and shared mobility is envisaged. We are proud of participating in this future mobility concept with preparing detail design drawings for the tracks of the new tramway line 12 on the streets Taborstraße and Vorgartenstraße.

The Mountfield Tunnel is a single track tunnel in the south of England on the Turnbridge Wells to Hastings line in Kent, which was built 170 years ago. The track system inside the tunnel is a Pact system, which was built in the 1970s, that has to be renewed after 50 years of wear and tear in different phases. The portal at the north is called Robertsbridge portal, and the south portal is the Battle portal.

Phase 1 of the renewal works took place at the Robertsbridge portal, where a new track system was installed with a length of approximately 30 m. The slab track system is a reinforced concrete slab, with embedded sleeper type Cemex 1503. This track was designed by Schembera Consulting ZT, and installed in a 9 day line closure in October 2022.

The 2nd phase of the works took place at the Battle portal at a length of 230 m. The Pact slab was replaced with a slab track using Delkor Alt1 rail fastenings, which were embedded in reinforced concrete. The design of this track was reviewed by Schembera Consulting ZT as a CAT 3 checker.

On behalf of Metroselskabet (MS), the subway network in Copenhagen will be expanded to include the Cityringen project. Part of this project is the 4.6 km long branch off to Sydhavnen. This section is located entirely in the tunnel and consists of 5 stations and 2 scissor crossovers. The railway tracks are designed by Schembera Consulting ZT using the track system LVT HA as well as a Mass-Spring System. Also the 3rd rail layout in tunnel, stations, flood gate areas and scissor crossovers was designed in the detail design phase.

The Permanent Way subsystem was designed by Schembera Consulting ZT on behalf of Rhomberg Bahntechnik GmbH. DI Bernhard Schembera is the Design Manager and Technical Director, responsible for the subsystems Permanent Way (PW), Traction Power (TP), Power Supply (PS) and Local SCADA (LS).

In the east of London, one of the largest city extensions of the city is being built. To ensure access to public transport, a new station, called Barking Riverside, is being built.

In the east of London, the Barking Riverside station is to be built to connect to the city extension area of the same name, which includes 10,800 new apartments. A bridge will be built to get over the Tilbury Loop. The track system to be built is Slab Track Austria (STA). A transition to ballasted track is required.

Schembera Consulting ZT supports Rhomberg Sersa UK in the interpretation of the Track-Bridge Interaction with regard to the requirements for track design as the basis for track design. In addition, we act as check engineer of the slab track design in the system Slab Track Austria (STA) system, the crossover and the transition areas to the ballasted track.

Just outside London’s King’s Cross rail station, there are 3 tunnels, the so-called Gasworks tunnels. The eastern tunnel (East Bore) was activated again after several decades, during which it was not in operation for railways. The tracks in this tunnel were designed as a slab track, System SlabTrack Austria (STA). Only the crossovers were made in the LVT standard track system. Transitions to the tracks in ballast were arranged outside the two tunnel portals.

Schembera Consulting ZT was acting as consultant for the general planning of the slab track STA and the LVT crossover. In addition, we were also responsible for checking the slab track design, switches and crossings, track slabs with derailment protection, the track slabs with softer bearings, the load distribution plate in the area of the tunnel portals, and transition areas to the ballasted track.
